Decimals and Fractions

A fraction can be represented in the form of decimals.

    For example
  • 1/2=.5
  • 3/4 = .75
  • 1/3 = .333333...
  • 1/7 = .142857142857142857...

    Fractions can be
  1. Terminating: Terminating decimals end after some decimal places.
  2. Non-terminating and recurring Non terminating decimals do not end they continue forever. Recurring decimals are formed by the repetition of some decimal points. As in
    and
Here a bar is put over 142857 because this pattern repeats forever. We can also put a dot or a bar if the digit is single.
